    P91 pops on Plia 150S's

Re: P91 pops on Plia 150S\'s I have been successfully using a P91 with 2 x 150s batteries in a Z3 for several months. My original plastic bezel distorted from the heat but I switched to a Pyrex bezel and love all that light being free in that its rechargable. I have 100% reliable switch...

    P91 bulb blows up on 2xPila 168s

Re: P91 on 2xPila 168s blows up I run a P91 off of two Pila 150S in a Z3 body. The 168 should just have higher capacity. Bulbs occasionally just blow. I think perhaps it was just a bad bulb. I have had sucess with both the P90 and P91 lamps on Pilas.

What is the next best thing to a AAA Arc?

I agree a Peak is a suitable replacement for an ARC AAA. However, I went with a Peak N cell to substitute for the ARC. I don't use the light so much that the loss of runtime matters. And going with the N cell keeps the length at about the same length as the ARC was. I actually like the...

Looking for Iraq gear/lessons learned threads

I am in an aviation unit operating from a large logistical base in north central Iraq. Here are some of my recommendations regarding gear and a bit of commentary on each as to why: Top Items that the soldier will not be issued: 1. Premium Flashlight. I was a connoisseur of flashlights long...

    Interesting Math Story Problem

Well, this forum contains quite a few of you smart, engineering types. So break out your slide rules. The following story problem is just simple math. Not calculus, not algebra, just arithmetic. Yet can be surprisingly tricky.... To make the numbers in the story low, just pretend this took...

Request for U2 runtime graph with Pila cell

Wow this thread grew fast. When it 1st started, I had been carrying my U2 for a couple days using it intermittently, powered by a Pila 168S and knew it retained level 6. The thread got me curious so last night I checked to see what my Pila U2 performance was. The light ran at level 6 for...

    Windmill lighters while travelling

Prohibited. A pressurized butane lighter is forbidden in both carry-on and checked baggage. And a recent change is that now a regular Bic lighter is also prohibited in carry-on. Only matches are now allowed in the cabin.

This place has good prices on Surefires...why?

They are not too good to be true. I recently bought an M6 from them. $315 + $11 shipping.

Another reason to get Pilas, the T3

I found a Pila 168S to ALMOST fit in my T3, but not quite. It binds up on the way in. Perhaps if the outer layer plastic wrapper were removed from the Pila. But I have previously got a Pila stuck in a light that was too tight for it and don't want to do that again. As you know, you have...

    Best pricing on SureFire flashlights

Thanks for the suggestion of Ultimate Passage. I had been shopping for an M6 and watching them on Ebay. Ultimate had M6 in stock, for $315+shipping. And they were great to work with, responded to my emails quickly and made special arrangements to ship USPS mail rather than their normal UPS.

Some Pilot Feedback on NVG Compatible Lights

I have a white A2. I agree it is often too bright and wind up holding the head of it in my hand and just letting part of the light out from between my fingers. However, I disagree with your feedback regarding accidental activation of the main bulb. Its a lock out tail cap. Unscrew it a turn...

Some Pilot Feedback on NVG Compatible Lights

For those non-pilots out there, the point of the light is to see in the cockpit, underneath the NVGs. The NVGs are focused at infiniti and you look through them at the outside world. To see in the cockpit at your instruments and papers, you look under the NVGs with your bare eyes. Just about...

Streamlight Strion or Mod a Surefire ?

If you like your L4, just drop a Pila 168S into it. That's now my primary light and I use it about every day.
