    Thanks for your reply matt ! I think your right, i charged up the eneloops in case and still the light wouldnt get any brighter. I bought it from fenix uk and emailed them today so hopefully they will be able to fix it for me.

I didnt realise that standard alkaline batteries may not be suitable for the tk40 so thanks for the info ! Just have to wait...
