    Changing AA's for a 18650?

Thanks Chris. I looked at 18650 lights and couldn't find one which seemed worth the investment. The coast is very functional with both focus and variable power. Using decent rechargeable NiMH batteries is the way i will go if switching can't be done.

    Changing AA's for a 18650?

Hi all, Flashlight newbie here with what is hopefully a simple question. I just bought a Coast HL27 Headlamp (https://coastportland.com/product/hl27/) and am wondering how difficult would it be to switch out the 3xAA power pack to a single 18650? My goal is to increase the length of time per...

    MX25L3 Questions

Thanks for taking the time to respond. I wish you had seen my earlier threads sooner as it could have proven very helpful, but better late than never. The Armytek lights were pointed out to me as good options in some of those earlier conversations, but I ended up not going that way because I...

    MX25L3 Questions

I finally had an opportunity to take the light out in the field with me on my first photo-shoot and while we weren't shooting the type of subject which required any light painting, I was able to put the light through some test shots and get a feel for what I was working with. The first and...

    MX25L3 Questions

I got my MX25L3 earlier this week and while I haven't been able to use it for its intended purpose I still have several first impressions to report. If you haven't read all the posts in this or my other threads, you know that this is the first flashlight I've owned since my incandescent...

    MX25L3 Questions

So......lots of changes since my last correspondence. I ended up purchasing the MX25L3 MT-G2 yesterday. Quite a different direction from where I was intending to go, but time will tell if it was a (n expensive) mistake or not. The only reason for that (BTW) would be the tint issue , but the...

    MX25L3 Questions

It's my understanding that the SX25L3 comes in 3 flavors: MT-G2, XM-L2 U2 & the XM-L2 T6. The T6 option is the warmest of the 3 at 4300K. Up until the conversation with Eagletac-USA, I understood from the Eagletac website that they were offering the MX25L3 in the same 3 options, but now I'm...

    MX25L3 Questions

I called Eagletac-USA to find out when they plan to release the MX25L3 XM-L2 T6, and they told me that the Eagletac website is incorrect showing this option and the T6 version of this light is not going to be produced. It appears now that my quest for a light of this caliber is now down to...

    MX25L3 Questions

While I can't wait it get my hands on this (my first) light, I know I'll be happiest in the long run waiting for it, so that's what I'll do. It's much easier waiting for something that you know is coming than for someone to develop something that isn't out. I guess that's why you guys build...

    MX25L3 Questions

In looking at the two, the reviews I'm looking at indicate the advantage of the Nitecore is it uses a true CC/CV charging algorithm, where the Xtar is reported to simulate it. I don't know practically if this is a worthwhile difference to be honest, but that's just what I've read. I can see...

    MX25L3 Questions

Thanks very much guys. Sounds like there is no reason to look beyond the Eagletac 3400's. I do like the idea of multiple cell chargers such as the ones recommended, especially since the light will use 3 cells. In looking at the reviews on them the Nitecore appears to fare better. Looks...

    MX25L3 Questions

I'm looking to buy my first new flashlight and decided that the MX25L3 will best fit my needs. I was originally going to go with the SX25L3, but then read about this model and decided it's worth going with the extra throw. I've decided to purchase it with the kit for the diffuser and tail cap...

    Warm Tint Light Selection

Thanks Ladp.1 and Welcome! I'm honored that you felt this topic worthy of your first post! I received a similar suggestion from another forum member when I first began posting, but dismissed it at the time because the lumens seemed pretty low especially when you are comparing it to 2500+ of...

    Warm Tint Light Selection

I've been trying to choose a flashlight for light painting night scenes in photography. I've been able to narrow my choices down to about 10 lights and kind of got stuck there. I think my problem is I've been asking about too many choices, so I decided to try a different tack. One thing I do...

    Help me choose.....

Thanks yellow! Wow that is quite a long reply. I hope you cut and paste it from somewhere, or at least are a faster typer than I am. Between your post and N8N's, I'm getting the gist of modding these things, at least conceptually. So, no matter which way I go initially, if it doesn't work...
