Hello everyone,
I recently acquired a newer generation Bright Razor. The light uses 3 AA batteries. One of the first things I noticed was that the included documentation states the light is to be used only with alkaline batteries. In fact the light has a warning on it that says to use only...
The spec sheet does indeed say it has a digital tuner and display. Though the lack of presets and the fact that it still has a dial makes me hesitant that it truly does. And actually feature-wise, the mini unfortunately doesn't look all that impressive.
Guess it is good I got mine when I did then. That is the most important feature to me, even if it was an unlisted one. My older model can run directly in the sunlight with the battery removed, although there is a cap on how loud it can get. The panel doesn't supply enough power to run at...
Is the new model of the Solar Observer still capable of being self-powered off the solar panel? The previous model can run directly off the panel, even with the rechargeable battery removed. I am guessing the new one can't.
Anyone have much experience with the Mutant M-Wavio portable Internet radios? They look fairly affordable considering. And they have RDS which is a bonus.

There was a solar light made a couple years ago that actually seemed pretty decent. It used super capacitors instead of batteries. But as far as I know the company is no longer in business and I have been unable to come across one since.
Well, the Lightstorms are noticeably brighter. They are probably the best built crank light I have ever used. They do suffer from the problem capacitors suffer from. Mainly they don't hold their charge for long. I am not exactly sure how long they are supposed to hold their charge. Mine goes...
That's some mighty expensive shipping. I ordered enough stuff to bump my order over $50 so I wouldn't have to pay shipping, but I think that offer is US only. My Solitaire LED serial number is SL 00010025. It is the lowest serial I have ever had on a Maglite. :)
Do you know someone selling a Muyshondt Nautilus? They are not terribly easy to come by anymore, since they are out of production. When they do come around they typically don't go cheap.
The Maglite Solitaire LED is out now. Not terribly bright at 37 lumens, but not terribly expensive either.
Peak's are pretty nice, but their simply awful customer service will prevent me from ever doing business with them.
Re: Well, this IS a "candle power" forum.....
I still prefer the light of a candle to that of a flashlight. I have a considerable amount of beeswax candles on hand. I rarely ever use candles anymore, but I have plenty of them for those times when an LED just won't suffice.
The BrightStar WorkSAFE Razor is designed for this type of environment. 90 lumens. The old version was not regulated and had a pretty narrow beam. I don't know how the new version compares. Constructed out of nylon.
