Are you referring to the cree xre? If you look closely there's a little metal ring underneath the dome. That will cause a slight donut. But usually with a very light diffusing tape or a textured reflector will get rid of it. It's very slight.

Pretty cool! So you have 2AA driving the voltage regulator driving a cree? I have a couple Elly's and am waiting for my cree's to show up.

yup, using 2 double A batteries. Definitely much brighter than my Inova T3 as you can see from the picture.
