12v taillight replacement LEDs. Again.

Help Support Candle Power:

So no-one on here have any experience with or seen any data on such bulbs at all.. It's a pity, I've been annoyed for years with the lack of information provided by most sellers of LED bulbs, maybe they're afraid no-one would buy them if they knew how bad they actually were.. Well, at least Cristoph mentioned one place where one can get them, maybe someone over in the LED or General Light Discussion forums can provide some more information..
Sometimes people don't need the latest & ultimate in technology & performance to fulfill their needs, they only need to know what's good enough to do the job they have in mind. In this case I think a slight reduction in illumination & beam angle could be acceptable to get a much lower power consumption. Going from say a 5W bulb at 15 lm/W to a 1W LED bulb at 30 or 45 lm/W with a narrower beam would indeed give less lumens but the same or perhaps even more target illumination (candela). It could very well fill the needs of the person using the lamp while saving a lot of battery capacity. Any lack of general illumination could perhaps be filled in with a single 16W fluorescent tube in the ceiling (around 75 lm/W I believe, being more efficient than a dual 8W).

Thanks for the replies. I posted this in one of the other LED categories but it was shut down and I was told to post it in a more appropriate subject column...
I haven't had any time to devote to this since my last post but I will look at my RV stuff to see what I can find.

Guys, back to the drop-in replacement turn signals, I've seen several like this one on eBay. http://cgi.ebay.ca/2pcs-7440-7443-11W-Power-LED-Amber-Indicator-Bulbs_W0QQitemZ370133408355QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item370133408355&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1215|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318

I think it's 11 x 1 watt LEDs.

Has anyone tried these? Any of these brighter than incandescent OEM bulbs? I need this style, 7440:

Those drop in's you linked above are very bright. They might actually be brighter than stock incans, but the color is more vivid. I have them in my car.

ex: Red LED drop-in in a red tailight housing actually looks red and not that stock reddish orange color.

The only thing is, if your car have a Burnt-Bulb sensor warning, it will be on when you use these and any other LED drop-ins...just a heads up.
