I am wanting to add some power to my triple xpg. Right now it is running off an 8x7135 and I have a 4x7135 3 mode with no home. Will I be able to connect the two?

Search these forums. This topic has been covered countless times. In short - yes it can be done quite easily. Just a matter of fitting it in whatever space you have available. Just search for 'stacking 7135'. some results will be for actual chip stacking but other will be for daisy chaining actual driver boards.

Will 1 battery even run 12 X 7135 chips properly or will it behave like a direct drive setup?

I did 12 * 7135 for my tri 219 & XP-G2 and so far no problem with running with only 1 cell

you need leds with a low forwardvoltage to run at full power out of a single cell.
