Ok the Surefire G3 has been out for awhile now. Is anybody buying these things? I haven't seen much posted about it here. I know the performance is the same as a 9P. So those of you who have bought them, how much do you like them?

I'm still waiting to see what other colors Surefire offers for them. An orange one sure would be nice!

I'm waiting for a green OD G3. Then I will definitely buy one.

As far as rechargeables, easiest options that will work:
P90 + (2) AW 17500's
or
P91 + A19 one cell extension + (2) AW 17670 protected Li-ions.

Two 17500 will not cut it for the P91 which will draw approx 2.5A to 2.7A. Someone else will have to ring in about LF or other 3rd party LA's...

I use the G3 with 2 X 17500s and Lumens Factory EO-9. It works great. I used to use a SF P91 but it needed double clicks all the time and I understand the drain on the battery was dangerous.

i use my one with a nextorch clickie-tailcap and a sf-beamshaper - and it looks great.
running with 2xAW 17500 and P90 or LF SR-9 / HO-9. free lumen and power!!!

i like the G3 very much, it fits my hand very fine and has a warm, smooth grip.
output is great. i would buy it again!!! like it much much more than my G2.
we also have a P9 but I really prefer the G3.

hello brunt_sp, do you have any beamshot of your G3 using 2 x 17500 and the LF EO-9? do you also have a runtime of it?

Thanks alot and I really appreciate your input.

I am a recent fan of the new G3. I like 2x17500 with LF ES-9 for longer runtime. I really wish there was a lamp where I could get about two hours runtime though.

I liked the G3 before but now with the LF ES-09 and 2x17500's I love them. Never really use it for over an hour at a time anyway so I just charge it up afterwords

I run my 9P with 2 17500's. they work great! I got a drop in LED wich came free (unmarked) in one of my orders, and it works very well with a wide range of voltage (tried it from 3 to 9v) It puts out about the same amount of light as a P-60 surefire and will run 4 hours on the 2x17500 setup. To bad i don't know exactly what this lamp is.

Although I haven't used it too much, I like the G3 with a P91. I like the P91 over the P90 although it provides less runtime. It is a good value. I tend not to worry about the light like you might an M3.

Great Info! One question.......

1) G3
1) SF P91: 19W, 30 min, 310 lumen
2) 17670

Do I need the following? +ONE 1 cell extender

OK, two questions. Charger Recomendations? I'm builing a 6AA or 8AA to 2D ROP's too, so a charger that would accomodate both would be nice.

only if you want to be able to fit the batteries inside the flashlight.

:)

seriously though... you should read through the guide, it explains why you would need an extender.

There is currently no nitrolon one-cell extender for the G2 or G3 made by Surefire (or anyone else I know of). A metal A19 one cell adaptor will work fine but won't match the nitrolon body.
Keep the G3 and just switch bulbs. Use the LF H-09 (recommended)or E-09 (also works).
