●-●-● Bombelman Arc LS First Run FluPIC & SSC mod rev2.●-●-●

The Proud owner of this light my chime in at any time...
This mod is revision2 of my first ever mod, on my first ever
High-Power (LuxI haha) first ever Arc LS (First Run) Flashlight.
(Read that here: https://www.candlepowerforums.com/threads/109380)

A year later, the heatsink has been refined:
Custom made in the UK from high-quality Brass.
(details here: https://www.candlepowerforums.com/threads/154563)
The Circuit custom-made and programmed in Canada:
0.55" 0.6mm thin FluPIC v2.1 (oldskool) with Alternating Strobe.
The Led used is a Seoul USW0H from PhotonFanatic.
The reflector used is the 17mm SSC-optimized reflector, from the same source.

This setup can run from 3.0v and 3.7v cells, even from a CR2.
See pics posted below of this head and bezel on a CR2 tube.
(If you did not notice it in my avatar.........)

Cheers !!!

Questions, comments and suggestions more then welcome !

Very nice...one of these days I'll own an Arc LS.

Which one throws further, the XR-E or the SSC P4?

Well, many say the SSC P4, BUT I AM CONVINCED the XR-E behind a custom sanded McR-reflector throws further...
The might even throw the same distance, or I am biased...
They are very very close (if not the same) at lumen-output...

I'm with you bombelman...I think the Cree XR-E emitters are far superior in small light applications. I hope the Arc LS in chrome comes with an XR-E...

So when are you going to start selling the heatsinks?

I might sell these sinks, not sure yet.
I would like each and every sink to get used properly, since they
are aftermarket parts. I would hate to see someone buying a sink
and it will end up not being used...

I need to check for interest maybe too...
Feel free to drop me a line at george (at) bombelman.com (no PM).

Cheers !

If you do decide to offer the heatsinks, I'm in for (2) pending price.

Supernice mod Bombel! Your sickness for LS's runs so deep its almost hard to fathom you sick sick man you!! Gotta love it!! And those heatsinks are too cool for school... you need to hook up some fellow Arc fanatics w/them!!:buddies:

:lolsign:

Did you have to sand the reflector any to shorten it a bit?

Well, it seems kind of wierd, but the light in the pix above is now in my pocket!!!

Very very nice mod. Recieved with speed and great communication this morning - I do like the Postman!

Great alternating strobe function as well, which made me jump at first!!! (and is the most disorienting strobe I've seen in a light so far)

Way to go George, or as we say in England - Top job Mr Bombmeister...

Kooter, and others,

If you're an ARC LS type owner then you'll know how good the form factor - the feel of the torch is.

In terms of brightness - with a RCR123A (protected - from lighthound) it's as bright as a Fenix P1D CE on high - or at least near it - much less spotty beam and generally more useful. Not as throwy. Much less bright with a CR123A mind you - and haven't tested it with a CR2 ( Soon, George...soon:grin2: ). It'll probably be lovely with a RCR2 as well which will be handy as I have several of those from my ORB RAWs and their spares.

At close quarters it's extremely blinding to say the least - esp with strobe.

Let me EDC it for a while and I'll post back.

Re: ●-●-● Bombelman Arc LS First Run FluPIC & SSC mod rev2.●-●-●

Continuing thoughts on this mod of Bombelman's...

A very very very nice mod!

The flupic seems to be the same as in Bombelman's sig line - with links to a very usable, but not intuitive user interface.

He sent it to me in tactical mode which was menu 4? So it switched on always on strobe. Never having had a flupic before this flummoxed me until I read and printed out the link to instructions. At the moment I have it on Low-med-high etc ( menu 3 I think).
Haven't really sorted out the menus that thoroughly yet but I have used it enough to know I must have another one!!!!
Not fantastically bright on primaries though. With the RCR123A (protected, 3.7v 750 mAh that I got from lighthound to go with my Peak CPF Rainier) it is the brightest thing I have in pocket size!!! With a much less spotty beam as well. Much more useful than my Fenix beams L1D CE or P1D CE for instance.

I prefer to use the a twisty tail rather than the Kroll clicky as I can operate the Flupic better with a sure two-handed twist rather than a dodgy click!! The Kroll cycles sometimes with a click, and sometime without. Maybe that's why Bombelman sent it with a twisty :lolsign: .

Also, of all my LS mods that I've purchased over the years, this one has the very neatest, almost factory clean circuitboard that I have ever seen! He must have great patience or very small pointy fingers or both!!

Heartily recommended, get one if you can. It is a piece of work, to be very proud of.

Hats off to Bombelman - (and the originators of ARC LS and Flupic boards )

A real 'Wall of light!'

>> With a much less spotty beam as well.
SSC with the smooth reflector is a bit les spotty then Cree+McR.
Good to hear you like the beam...

>> Kroll cycles sometimes with a click, and sometime without.
Mostly due to the Kroll switch itself. For the times I use a FluPIC with a Kroll,
I make sure I have a new Kroll with rubbed internals.

Very glad to hear you enjoy the Arc Mod.
I hope you will love it even more when you get the CR2 pack for it.
They will be done 100% on monday 14th of may and will be packaged
and shipped out to you...

Cheers !
