I'm going to be building my own flashlight, and I'm thinking I'm gonna go with 6 18650 cells. 2 groups of 3 in a triangle configuration each, and then shoved into the tube of the torch.

Does someone make a circular tri-holder for these cells? ..or am I going to have to fashion something myself? ..A nice little plastic holder would be easy, but I'll take on the task if I must.

Also can anyone tell me what the diameter of a 18650 is? I've never physically held one cell in my hand.. are they similar to a AA in diameter but just longer? or slightly larger dia too?

Thanks!

if you are thinking about putting them in a D size light, they won't fit. Even with a tri-bored mag the best you will fit is 3x17670 abreast as I understand, and even that is cutting it really close.

Its 18mm x 65mm. The 0 stands for cylindrical cell. Note protected cells are slightly bigger.
 My 18650 won't even fit in a 6 D Mag :sick2: Sorry wasn't thinking

I won't be using any standard parts so that's fine.. I'm gong to be making this flashlight from scratch on my lathe.. I'll make everything fit :)

$30 for that battery holder! I think I'll make my own unless I can find a $5 hunk of plastic to hold them.
