i got a few charging IC's on ebay, but the most low-cost and effective ive found is the TP4054, already soldered on small board with USB connector.

just solder 2 wires and good to go ;)

current can be up to 800ma if you change the resistor.

i got also others "standalone" IC's, but is hard to solder on small boards. so i choose the "pre-assembled" ones.
