18650's "dinamite" battery holder

I thought some of you may find this useful.

I needed a battery holder to try my new tri-p7 and didn't want to wait for the delivery of a turboferret holder. I grapped some items from my shed and made a tri 18650 holder that I can attach to the bicycle using a pump holder next to the water bottle. It turned to be that good, simple and cheap that I won't order any other. It is a 22mm plastic pipe with two copper cups at both ends. One is fixed (with a spring for the negative pole) and the other can be removed to get the batteries in and out. The cup stays in place nicely and tied and it is easy to remove too. Very much self explanatory:

Looks farmiliar. I have a hole host of diferent pipe lengthc for different cell counts.

You should resize your pictures to 800*600 as that is the max you are alowed.

That looks pretty neat, Is it reasonably stable while youre riding or do the batteries rattle about?

Thanks for sharing, very interesting. I'm considering a similar design for three AA NiMH.
How do you keep the negative end spring under pressure?
It looks like the removable cap is simply held with tape or heat shrunk tubing, do you have to remove the tape each time you charge the batteries?

Yes, it is stable. The batteries don't move inside the tube.

The cup at the positive is removable (the negative with he spring is fixed). The cup stays well in place without any tape, it fits the tube vey tiedly. Alsos the copper plate (that make the contact with copper cup to get the positive) help to keep it tied and firm. I guess that for peace of mind you could do with a round of tape to the tube-cup.
