I have a couple of orders now for canister dive lights, and am expecting a few more orders soon. The prototype battery pack I built uses Samsung ICR18650-24B's (2400mah) which came with solder tabs. I am pleased with their performance but the US supplier doesn't sell protection pcb's which means I have to order them from another US supplier and take a hit on postage charges to England.
My pcb supplier sells Tenergy 2600 mah tabbed batteries for the same price as the Samsungs. It would save me money to order the batteries and pcb's from the same supplier. My question is whether the Tenergy are of comparable quality to the Samsungs. I'd choose reliability over the cost saving..

thanks

steve

I would guess that the "name brand" Samsung cells will be better quality than the "rebranded" Tenergy cells. That's just a rule of thumb, but there could be exceptions.

Before getting my first samsung 2600mah, I used Ultrafire and Tenergy.
Well, night and day. The 2 ultrafires 2400mah were measured below 1900 and the tenergy 2600 below 2100 !!! And it seems I was lucky, some friends got below 1900mah with other Tenergy 2600mah... At the opposite, the 2 Samsungs ICR18650-26c I own are above 2550mah...

edit: I don't know for samsung 2400mah, but I suppose they give accurate capacity close to their rating. So in any case, branded cells all the way

I cant speak of Samsung but ....
I splashed out some extra ££ to get 12 Tenergy 2600mah
then got hit with a £15 vat and handling charge when they arrived from the US,
to rub salt into the wound, after a break in period, they tested between 1800-2100mah :thumbsdow

very disgusting :green:
but sorry mate, it's not the end of your nightmare... in 6 months when you will see them fail one after the other, you will realize that finally, instead of a deal, you have been raped off £15...
