1xcr123 flashlight Q's

Sorry if this sound silly,
does the flashlights with dedicated 1xCR123 and the one with 1xCR123+2xAA extension tube any different in light output when both are using 1xCR123?

should the dedicated 1xCR123 better?

It depends. If it's a high-output light, you'll need a pair of NiMHs to match the performance of the single CR123A. If it's very low output (as in, low current, like around 100ma or less) you'll be fine even with alkaline.

It should be the same since 1 CR123 = 3.0v and 2 AA = 3.0v.
ex: which is heavier a pound of feathers or a pound of steel.

The 2 AA's will give quite a bit more run time than the single CR123A. In fact, almost twice the run time. Case in point.

P2D ...1xCR123A ...9L = 30hrs, 40L = 5.5hrs, 80L = 2hrs, 135L = 1hr

L2D ...2xAA ...........9L = 55hrs, 40L = 10.5hrs, 80L = 4hrs, 135L = 2.4hrs

I know the questions sound mesleading, but the question is i want cr123 lights but like the ability to have 2xAA as an option. should i go for 1xcr123 light with 2xAA extension tube or the one with 1xcr123 only? now the main question is, when both run 1xcr123 does it have the same output?

remember that this is not comparing between 1xcr123 and 2xAA

Yes it will have the same output. You will have the advantage of having longer runtime when needed running with 2AA batteries. Buy the light with the 2AA extension tube.

You already have the L1D and L2D. Just buy the P2D body and tailcap and you will have your dedicated light. The L1D 1xAA/L2D 2xAA and P2D 1xCR123A all use the same exact light head(they are all the same light), but give you 3 different battery options. Your best run times will come from the L2D 2xAA body. How much more dedicated can you get than that?
