Newly Enlightened
This is something that I finished off a while ago but only recently got around to convert to run on AA batteries. It was originally a 200W Halogen work light, the kind you see painters or builders using on the job.
After removing the globe, its fittings and the mains lead I installed 3 XP-G's on 20mm stars on to a section of box aluminium. This section was then thermal compound glued into the fitting. A modified AX2002 based driver was then used to drive the LED's and allow for the brightness to be changed.
Lastly I made up a bracket to hold the battery pack of 8 rechargeable NiMh AA's cells and then wired it up. Run times are about 3 hours on high, 4 hours on medium and 7.5 hours on low.
If your interested to see more pic's and info take a look here.
