I thought some of the CPF Gang might get a kick out of this array. I built it to test the old fashioned fiber optic systems we use where I work. Each LED can be turned on seperatly with some DIP switches. It looks pretty darn bright when all 23 are on.

This is a image of the connector with LEDs installed

This is a beam shot. The LED array was held about 18 inches from the wall. The size of the main area at this distance is about 12 inches in diameter.

The first picture isn't showing up. But I can see it when I copy the link, and take off the ".orig".
 
I work for a particle accelerator manufacturer. This device was built to test our crude but effective fiber cables. We use unclad fiber because it can handle the millions of volts that some of our machines produce, but being unclad makes it easy to damage during handling and manufacturing. This array lets us check pin outs and if you turn off the lights you can check for damaged fibers.
