2AA headlamps?

Hi, I'm starting my first thread since I couldn't find the information using google nor forum search. My question is: are there considerable 2AA headlamps? All I've now found are Fenix HP01 and Fenix HL30.

The headlamps both use Cree XP-G led so another question: are there any 2AA headlamps using Cree XM-L(2)? I have Olight S15 flashlight that uses 2AA and has Cree XM-L2 and it gives me around 240 lumen (questimate) for over 1,5 hours. Why shouldn't my headlamp also?

Searching the net I found something about boost circuits and that the cost of manufacturing 2AA headlamps might be too expensive. But since Fenix has been able to develop two models with reasonable price why not the others? I'm now using Olight H15 which uses 4AAA. I like using it, but I find the battery configuration problematic. I would like to have another headlamp that uses the most common battery type around. The weight of 2AA NiMHs is almost equal to the weight of 4AAA NiMHs, so I wish I had the same light with 2AA battery box.

I know there are 1AA/3AA/4AA headlamps, but it seems to me they all have problems (no good regulation, what to do with "extra" battery or weight, respectively). Also, if I wanted to use 18650 battery I'd go with Armytek Wizard Pro, but the battery type is quite rare and expensive. So, where are 2AA headlamps?

Replying into my own thread... Did some more research and found Spark SD52. Seems rather good except for the price :/

You should take a look at the Zebralight headlights, they have 1XAA ones that are pretty well regarded, with some fairly impressive output and runtimes.

I have a Spark SD52NW. It is a great headlamp! THe tint is awesome. You get what you pay for. I was impressed with the run times from 2-AA Duraloop batteries. It is enginered very well, and is a high quality piece. You can also get an optional screw in bezel that is more focused if you need it. Good options for the headlamp. :thumbsup:

I think the solarstorm taillight"cree xm-l 2xu2 led 5000 lumens 3 Mode bicycle bike headlight x safety tailight" which is run in 2*AAA. my guess, treble A and double A both are
easy to buy. i found this one ebay . wish it hopeful /

It is only the red taillight that is power by AA, the headlight is power by its own batterypack. And there is no way that lights put out 5000lm, my guess is that is somewhere around 1500lm max.

I think you meant Spark SD52NW since google told me that SC52 is a Zebralight flashlight :) The headlamp seems good. Unfortunately I can't find it in any netstore in Finland. Cheapest I found in eBay costs 89$ (approx 65 eur) but I'm afraid it would take ages to ship it from Hong Kong. The focuser you mentioned actually can be found in Finland because they sell other headlamps of SD-series. But together the headlamp and focuser would cost over 100$ so I'm considering Fenix HL30 (around 65$/45€). It has red led also, but Spark looks more durable.

minos2013: I'm also afraid no headlamp can produce 5000 lumen. Searching eBay I came across some 2AA headlamps with over 1000 lumen promised. Too good to be true...

chazz: I took a look, but I'm afraid they don't have good regulation. Sorry, I have no reference to backup my thoughts. Anyway, the point of using 2AA is that my flashlight uses the same battery configuration. For example, if I didn't have chance to charge my (backup) batteries, I could use those in my flashlight if I use the headlamp more or vice versa. There were some other points too but I have to sleep first, since I've forgotten half of my vocabulary.

My bad. Spark SD52NW. :) I fixed it. ;) You will not find any 2-AA headlamps that produce that kind of lumen output. Just cannot happen on the low voltage from NiMH batteries.

The Surefire Minimus AA is a 2AA headlamp. Not super bright but thought I'd throw that one out there.
