3AA battery containers ffor D Cell Flashlights

I have seen the linked LED flashlight on EBAY several times. What intrigues me is what may be the bottom half of a 3AA battery cylinder that may or may not come with a top that can be used in other flashlights.

I emailed a seller to ask if the manufacturer sold 3AA battery pack containers based on this design and got the predictable "Idunno".

Does anyone have this light or any insight about possible plug-and-play battery adapters?
