hey guys im building a 3x XML-T6 flashlight and need a driver to power them almost to there max power, and need a driver asap thats not over my budget, i have have a few 8xAMC7135 (2.8A) drivers does anyone no if i can build a driver from them to power my 3 XML-T6 leds using 1 or 2 26650 battery's ? if possible thanks for any help :thumbsup:
 
It depends on how you plan to wire your LEDs. If they are going to be connected in series you'll need only 1 of the 2.8A drivers, but at least 3 lithium batteries. If you wire them in parallel then you can get away with 1 lithium cell, but will need a 9A driver to give each LED the full juice.

There are options for the 9A driver (Der Wichtel for one) but it'd be easier and cheaper to go for 3 cells and the emitters in series...
 
i dont mind using 3 battery's ill just get a 3D mag host and use it and run the emitters in series

The der Wichtel 9A driver is not a good choice to drive three XM-L's in parallel using one Li-ion cell. The der Wichtel driver needs a minimum of 6V input. If you were using 2xLi-ion or 3xLi-ion or more cells, then the der Wichtel driver would be a good choice.

What he says :). 2 or 3 cells for the DW driver is fine. You could add small resistors in series with the XM-L's, to compensate for different Vf's (higher current --> more drop over the resistor). 0.3V drop over a resistor at normal operation would be plenty :).
 
my bad on the der wichtel driver...ive been using it so much for sst-90s and have not had to consider low Vin at all. Slipped my mind :-S
