Those are available now to U.S. customers in the 99¢ chain stores. The 4AA battery module comes out as a seperate piece of their Neon 6 volt flashlight.

Because they are series wired, of course here's an opportunity (by using 2 of them together in series), to have that compact 12 volt (2 "D" cell) sized flashlight.
It cost me a grand total of $1.98+tx for the two 6 volt adapters. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Wow, this would have come in handy, last week. I just made one for a mod, and it took almost 5 hours with all the cutting, drilling and counter boring for everything. I'll have to go take a look for these.

Someone should pick up some of these /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
For us unlucky ones that cant find them locally. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Wow, that's great. I'd love to grab a couple of these. They're hard to find.... I like the 3 to D adapters better though, although 4 to D means i can keep my batteries in neat sets of 4, since my nimh are often used in camera flashes...

Do the adapters fit into a Maglite? I had a Garrity 4AA that had what looked like a 4AA to D adapter. It was actually too big for a D Maglite though. However, it did fit in many other cheapo lights.

Sorry, I don't have a "D" cell Mag. anymore..

FWIW-I just tried the adapters (with batteries) in my old Ray-O-Vac 2-D Sportsman, and they fit just fine. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon3.gif

p.s.-if you do happen to have a 99¢ store nearby, better hurry, their stocks have been dwindling in the last two weeks. I don't use that many D cell lights anymore, but at 99¢ each, I just couldn't resist buying a couple. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

O.K., after we drop 8 AA batteries in the 2 cells Maglite, which is the best and brightest bulb that we can put on?
please gave the model numbers and where they are avalaible,
ej: Radio Shack etc.

vcal-- I got some of these lights both for a cheapo mod & the adapters (for general use). I just tried squeezing one into a m_g 2D, but it doesn't quite fit.

The adapter's top & bottom are 12.5x12mm rectangles with rounded corners. Largest diagonal measurement on the adapter is 14mm, versus 13.5mm bore on the light's battery tube.

greenled, I do have some of those. They will fit into D size M*g but They are wired parallel and don't have good contact. I don't recommend.

Parallel? What were they thinking? Mods want volts /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I appreciate the info fivemega, will look elsewhere then. I wonder... how hard would it be to mod the adapters so they're in series?

What were they thinking? These are for emergency use.
Mods want volt. Not allways. Using 4 Lithium AA on it will give you over 1.5 volt with huge current draw capability.
I wouldn't spend time to rewire them.
