This is my first post in these forums and its about my first led flashlight purchase. It seems that there is a malfunction with the light. When I select beacon mode it flashes only five times and the flutters a bit and turns off.

Any ideas?

Thanks

The beacon mode on Quarks flashes five times first, then one flash every 10 seconds. Did you wait 10 seconds?

Ah, the "Beacon only flashes 5 times on my Quark" question - a classic type of post.

Link Archer VI is right, just wait longer.

It flashes quickly 5 times so that you know it is on. After that, the beacon only flashes every 10+ seconds (which can seem like a long time to wait). When it is doing the beacon flashes, it sort of ramps up and down a bit, which can look fluttery.

I think they fixed the ramping on the newer models. Where the lights now should use constant brightness for beacon. Do you have anodizing on your threads? 4sevens customer service is very responsive and would know more about this than me.

did any one else read this "4sevens quark aa2 bacon problem"?

From what I understand, the "fluttering" in the beacon output is meant to draw the eye towards the light source, thus attracting your attention... Yeah, it took me a minute to figure out the 5 flashes and nothing the first time I turned mine on (Ti AA), but I waited and started flashing again. Except, instead of 10 seconds between flashes, mine is more like 12... I don't think it's a flaw, all the other modes work fine, as does beacon, but the timing on mine seems off. Anyone's similar?

I called 7777 and they filled me in. Thanks for all the responses. I had no idea people dig flashlights so much.

Ha yes every time I see something about beacons I read it as bacon. MMMMM bacon  4 Sevens should have a bacon mode on their lights, that would be yummy!

hopefully you wont need your beacon mode too much. ive never used it. ever. i just cycle through it alot.
