Kind of hard to tell from the picture without dimensions but they could be sub-C's. The 2000 mAh rating would be consistent with generic sub-C NiMH batteries.

yes, 1/2C 1.245v ea for ~5v total.

we've been shopping for 1/2D NiMh 5000mAH and D size 10AH !

The picture of the batteries says Panasonic. But I can't find them listed on Pany's website anywhere. I can't even find rechargeables on there.
