6D Mag Possibilities

I did a search but didn't quite find what I was looking for. Basically, what mods are available to get a 6D mag to output more than 250 lumens?

This is easy!

9X1/2D Nimh plus 1185 WA lamp plus metal reflector equals Mag85 with nearly an hour of run time.

800 plus lumens out the front!

Of course there are lost of less potent combos also.

Is there any combo that would give me a run time of maybe 4 hours of good light, but with regular alkalines?

Using D alkalines and getting 250 lumens becomes pretty difficult because the bulbs that will have that kind of output require less internal resistance than alkalines have.

You could get good results with D Nimh cells, thats 7.2 volts of power and if you put that with a potted WA 1111, you would be over 500 Lumens with 3-4 hours of run time if you bought high capacity NiMH D cells.

Altenatively, you could run a 5 cell bulb on 6 Alkaline D cells for about 120 lumens and a LONNNNG time, just less output.

my 6d makes a great paperweight and is nice for demonstrations people think its way brighter than my m6 i got for christmas...until i acually turn on the m6 than people tend to shut up
