Cool idea, but as far as lumens and efficiency goes, you'd probably be better off with Dual SSC P7 10W LED's.

Hi Guys, ok, dated, I suppose, but I just turned 63 today so for a Grampa job im happy with it. I also run a 9.5 AH battery for a longer run. Far as weight, both 7.5AM and 9.5AM sure on the weght but both same size, but your not talking penlights you know, I suppose about five pounds or under. I dont think Lance Armstrong would go for the weight but if your a causual biker and bike for excersise you get used to it. Keep the tire pressure up and she rolls smooth. This bike is aluminum so that helps. I have another one made of steel, you want to talk weight you got it ! I have two switches which allow me to run one lamp or all four. Running all four ( 2 amps each) I can get a good hour and half out of the 9.5 battery and a good hour out of the 7.5 AH. Thats enough to get me back in dark on the return trip on a long trail ride. I tried LEDS, you cant beat those for eff, no contest there.
I have a AM /FM bike radio on this one also, an late 80s Radio shack, and outfitted it wiht an AUX jack for the MP3 player. That works good too. Thanks for your comments and notes, you know around here in Minnesota nobody pays attention to a guys bike, much less the outfittings so nice to get some attention and have this site for people who enjoy these things.
Far as bumps, well I wont advise taking it over the curb or anyting like that on a regular basis, but I do street and trail riding and have had no problem with failure of any kind in last two years since I made them. Im not saying its the ultimate, but I have scared the crap out of the youngsters gathering on the trails late at night around here, makes me feel "strong and powerfull" ha ha, you know how it is, so have a good one, I have cake to eat, my birthday today !

I don't see leads, is the battery on the seatpost or the handlebars? I'd have thought the weight would be cumbersome if it is on the handlebars.

Must be nice to see with that light. Sadly after seeing pictures of a car hid projector on a bike, bright beamshots just don't capture my imagination. I'm old for this game.

The bike is very clean. How are the lights used? It doesn't look like a commuter bike. (edit I see the reflectors, so a commmuter I assume)

The leads are on the back side, the power comes from the battery located in a "camera case" type bag on the back of the seat. Im not sure what you mean about a car hid projector on a bike in your post... I use the bike for trails mostly, I keep the bike clean, easy to do, the bike is about four years old. I have another bike, about six years old now, same condition, just clean and polish after each ride to keep it like new. You cant do that if your using a bike for every day use, I realize that. I use only one lamp for most biking, you use four if you want to get a thrill or light up the trail, all four lamps give you light about the same as one sealed beam 12 volt car headlamp. Yes it is nice if your out there in pitch black on the trail making your way back to the car or home. I got out on the trail few years ago got dark, no lights, never again, you dont want to be caught with out lights so I fixed the problem ! You dont need all of this for a bike light, a good ten watt lamp will get you there and back.

enjoy your lights !
roadmaster, I always thought I'd like to name my light 'road killer' lights or something. No reason.

Happy birthday bro - i mean grandpa ! I missed that. Have a good one! I also missed the bit about the bike radio with mp3 socket. It is giving me bad thoughts relating to the situation, passing cars stuck in a traffic jam.

The bike radio has a speaker so I dont have to use headphones, works good! I posted some other pictures but for some reason didnt make it on the post, they showed the battery case, and the switches for the lights. if I get a chance ill repost them but dont want to load up the server with unnessary photos I guess.

This is my other bike, a Wall Mart "Roadmaster" Solid Steel, you get your excerise riding this one! I have a different lighting system here, only 64 watts, but does a nice job, gets a few looks. I had all three lights on one night on the trail scared some riders out comming at me, they said they thought it was the "Burllington" comming at them with that light arragement. We got a good laughf out of it. This system runs on a lead acid battery too, 7.5 AH runs this system for over an hour to get you back home.

nice ... but it's only halogen ...
Right Mr Pepko (if that is indeed your real name) give me your address, I'm comin' round there with my 'only halogen' to learn you good and proper. I'll switch my lights off as I approach, with CRI ~75 from your LEDs unless I'm dressed in white head to toe you probably won't see me till I'm on your doorstep, then bam I'll literally light you up. These aren't mine but you get the idea http://forums.mtbr.com/showthread.php?t=467362&highlight=mr16. (edit I know lumens figures are wrong on this thread)

Only joking folks, don't mean to start a war. I don't think numbers would be on my side. It's just that what you don't realise is a lucky few escaped this daft led fad (only joking! We don't all have the diy skills to go led).

yeah, I hope you all don't mind my humour. I'd already come across that quad mce project, good pics. Maybe you can put your skills to use building the perfect road beam, you've seen the thread.

Not that I'm backing down.. :popcorn:I'm eating popcorn to stock up on carbs before I cycle to your house. :popcorn:In fact, I somehow missed the bit where you showed me your address. With my 30w hid in the mix I can easily beat 3000 lumens, but then 4 lamps vs 1 torch isn't really a fair contest. Oh wait, 3 of those are

they do make warm white cree led's that give close to 90 CRI. although i prefer LEDS i do like halogens. nice set up!
