We used to see these things at grand openings and things when I was a kid. If no one was looking, you could spit on the lens and watch it crakle and pop as it vaporized. There was no way I'd do that now-a-days!

I was dissapointed to trace down a recent grand opening. They had 4 little lights only a foot or so across mounted on a interesting framework. No generator, no fumes. It was nowhere near as impressive.
