Re: $900 UV Light

Hmmm "Emits light primarily in the visible light range". Visible UV? I would guess it is 400nm, same as X5. They use a funny , i.e. tricky, power rating too.

NINE HUNDRED DOLLARS FOR A SINGLE 5MM LED?!!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crackup.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/twakfl.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crackup.gif

Is there any chance that they just misplaced the decimal point? I can find 5mm UV flashlights for $1.00. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon15.gif

Re: $900 UV Light

It must be a mistake, in the case it is not it enters directly on the king size fraud category

Re: $900 UV Light

Well, my dad, being a dentist recently bought a new curing light. It was $300. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif When he told me about it, i was in total disbelief. I asked him why he bought something so expensive, and he said it was cheap. If its marketed as a dental product, i guess they can sell it for a LOT. Later, i looked at it and it turns out to be an almost NUV Lux V. Its powered by a Lithium ion battery. I told him i could build one for about $50, but he didn't believe me. now he knows to consult me before buying any lighting stuff. Gosh, those marketers make tons of profit. $300! SHEESH!!!

Re: $900 UV Light

What a RIPOFF! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/broke.gif Peak Led Solutions 7 LED 2 headed for $60- 400Nm nice light. Also has white light head (2 sided) /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Or Night Cutter 5 LED 375 NM- very cool deep UV- finds conterfiet money instantly and any biological stain Model 5 CSI- $84. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Both run on 123 battery. Both work very well.

No where near $100 let alone $900. RipOff! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Re: $900 UV Light

Here's the only potentially interesting thing about it:
[ QUOTE ]
PRODUCT FEATURES
<ul type="square">[*]Contains a high powered LED point light source - Typical 0.5 W/cm2*
[*]Emits light primarily in the visible light range
[*]Instant On/Off
[*]Can be used while recharging

Sounds like it's more powerful than the average 5mm LED to me unless that's a misprint.

Re: $900 UV Light

As idle says, 1/2W/cm2 is some (to me) fairly serious output. I wonder what the * footnote(?) is? We use commercial UV curing lamps at work which cost $1K+ and monitor them for intensity daily. They have to be shielded from operator exposure and "bleach" black anodise in short order. For dental/medical/industrial "tools," the economies of scale typically fall way short of consumer stuff. Loctite is one or the premier manufacturers of industrial and medical-grade adhesives. They spend a lot on R&D and their stuff ain't cheap. Nice thing is when you're in the industry, samples/support are easy to get and free. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: $900 UV Light

Well, let's see if I can get an evaluation sample out of them.

(Edit, a moment later)
Well, I did not find an email address for them or a "Contact Us" form to fill out and send off.

Re: $900 UV Light

Someone here donated to the relief raffle a 2Watt Nichia UV light. What are the specs on that unit? It sounds brighter than a single 5mm, but seriously, 900.00, unreal.
