(technically from the girlfriend) will probably end up being either the Eagletac p10a or the Nitecore Extreme. I am leaning towards the NEX even though it is 1xcr123. I would love to hear from people who own either/ both and their thoughts as to carryability. Oh, yeah, this will be my first top end light.

Don't own a Nitecore Extreme, but I've noticed that the output from my P10A is what I get from my better-quality 1xCR123 based lights. (But I mainly run my P10A with an Energizer E2 lithium AA battery). The beam profile is also excellent.

The clip is excellent. Ideal for bezel-down carry in a pants pocket. You can carry it bezel-up, but too much of the light sticks out of the pocket.

If you don't already own any lights that take CR123 cells, might be a better idea to get the Eagletac P10A instead; and stick with AA cells for now.

I would consider 'top-end' to be Polarion, Microfire, Mac's Customs, Cool Fall and ElektroLumens territory. They've marked it firmly. =P

I have neither, but I prefer the look of the NiteCore, if that's any help. If you don't already run CR123 lights perhaps the EagleTac is a better choice.

Thanks for the input, guys. When you edc a River Rock, Eagletac and Nitecore are top end, in comparison.:o

I own a NiteCore extreme, and it is a great light. Extremely bright, well made, and easy to carry. Happy choosing.
