A new light for work and EDC

I'm an EMT and a psychiatric nursing assistant at a State hospital. I would like a light that I can edc and use on rounds at the hospital. Some of the features I would like are:

1. over 400 lumens
2. tail switch
3. strobe
4. beacon
5. between 5-7 inches
6. multiple power source choices
7. holster (not necessary but would be nice)
8. multiple colors (would be nice but again not a deal breaker)
9. under $150 (wedding coming up and I'm on a tight budget)

So is there anything that would meet my requirements? I guess you can say I'm a noob :huh: to this. I have been carrying something for at least 10 years and usually just pick up what is on sale at the local uniform shop. I am ready now for a serious carry light :twothumbs. I do want to customize it as well but am not sure who or how to go about doing that. I have read a lot of post on here and am still a little lost :duh2:. However I am learning a lot from you all and would love to get your input into my next purchase. If this goes well will be looking for a back up but would like it to be a small 2-3 inch size like a Quart. Well, :thanks: and hope to hear from some of you soon.

Check out foursevens (aka 4sevens) or sunwayman. They have a bunch of quality lights in various sizes, battery types, and modes.

Also check out Fenix's LD and PD series along with Jetbeam, Thrunite, Klarus, Dereelight, Eagletac...

By multiple power sources, do you mean the light should be able to use AAA batteries, CR123s, and Li-ion rechargeable? Or just batteries that you can easily find?

What kind of beam would you like? At what distance would you usually be using the light? I'm assuming you mean the 4sevens Quark as the smaller light?

Thank you for that. However, I have a penlight for that. This light would be for finding addresses and monitoring the ground when i am moving the stretchers at night.

Ok.. well.. I only deal with AA and AAA lights.. so.. perhaps a Fenix E40 for solid throw, or a TK41 if you really wanna light things up


...besides those, if you need a ton of light, you are gonna need a protected 18650, and that's something I can't comment on, since I don't own any :shrug:

Well, based on what you are saying - I would check out the Klarus XT-11.

I own a lot of lights and my new XT-11 is a real nice piece of gear. I bought mine on eBay with two 18650 batteries and a charger, for a grand total of $90. It also uses CR123 batteries. It has strobe button mounted right next to rear clicky. Great beam pattern. 650 lumens on high. Wonderful UI. The XT-11 is a big hit with LE (law enforcement) these days.
