I found yet another use for the versitile crystal type kitty litter. I am talking about the type of kitty litter that is made of silica gel. I put a small amount of the crystal litter into a small nylon type baggie and placed it directly into the bag that I keep my rechargeable batteries in. This baggie is kept in the refrigerator at about 4C. Now, when I take the baggie out of the refrigerator to remove some batteries for use, not one drop of moisture forms. This stuff is just an amazing sponge for any type of liquid and is almost free. (If you have a cat at home and you use this type of crystal litter)

I wonder if I could put a quantity in an old sock or such and put it in with my ammo stash?

This stuff is a super sponge. It holds a full weeks worth of cat urine and not a drop of it is in the pan when the box gets cleaned. How much water it can soak up, sounds like a great idea for a science experiment.
My nylon baggie is one of the wife's old stockings, cut to size, filled with litter and sealed with an old fashioned ty-wrap.

But it's not an odor sponge. Whether or not there is a drop in the bottom of the pan or not, I know what week-old cat urine smells like!:sick2:
