I used an A2 wwhite LEDs during the NY blackout. I'm not a kneejerk SF devotee (for example, my first A2 leaked as well as 2 of my e2es) , but I must say that the A2 was great for the blackout. The LEDs were more tahn adequate for navigating unlit stairwells and hallways (the duration of the blackout depleted most emergency lighting) and for lighting other tasks with little fear of depleting the batteries too quickly. And, if more light was needed it was there. I had a number of other light to choose from, e1e w/and w/o KL1, e2es, M2, G2Z, M3, M4, but the one I used the most was the A2. The water resistance was useful also -- filling a bathtub and making sure the plug didn't leak was a wet job needing a water-resistant light.

A suggestion -- have a lanyard handy for the A2 -- it allows hands free use when you need it -- and you will need it.

I didn't have that sort of test for them, but if you can't hack the cost of a A2...

STREAMLIGHT BABY!

I now own 1L, 2L, 3AA and 3C Twin Tasks and they are awesome considering the cost! And all have a lanyard attached (well a wrist strap anyway!).

I'm going to put up a mini review later today or tomorrow.

It was the main light that I used during the blackout. I did use the M3 while I was out touring the city on my BMX bike, people just had to light me up with what ever light they had so I stompped them with the M3 /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinser2.gif

SureFire have a Z number assigned for a Lanyard Kit for the A2/L1 TailCap - Z60.
I don't think it's been released yet.

I agree, the A2 was a great performer during the blackout. I was very glad to have it. I had only gotten it on August 1st so it was a real world test for me to ge to know the light. Money well spent. I actually used it more than any of my other SF lights.

I called SF after the blackout, asking about the runtime of the A2 on LED's. The customer service person asked if I was in NY /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif He quoted 1200-1500 hours as a "conservative" estimate, but since the LEDs are unregulated, I'm assumming that the useful light is less than that.

Since I carry more 123's than AA's, my A2 is now following me everywhere.
