Hi,

Can anyone tell me if there has been talk of the a2 with the rechargeable 123a cell (r123) from jsburly? I know current pila S series cells won't fit.

Also, I know we've got 6 volts feeding the a2. At some point it drops from regulation. Does anyone know this point? IIRC tinascar said the a2 actually uses a 3.7v lamp. So regulator would dropout at 3.7+overhead I guess.

Reason I'm asking is to figure out if I wanna buy any of these r123 cells when they come out. jsburly said they would come off charger at 4.1 volts or so. That means fresh ones will hit the a2 for 8.2 vs 6 volts. I'd LOVE to know if the regulator will take that down to the right level for the bulb.

Have any brave souls ventured to test the limits of their a2?

The diameter of the A2 is too small to fit any of the Pila (or similar) LiIon batteries as far as I know.

I doubt the regulaton is capable to stepdown from 8,~V to the needed 6V but what do I know. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon3.gif You could try it with one R123A and a 123Dummy.
