Well I didn't think I'd ever need a 'recommend me a light' thread but here goes...
I'm off with our Navy for five months next year, sailing around some unspecified but rather hot parts of the world. Not yet sure what ports we'll be returning to every few weeks to resupply and don't want to rely on having to chase up supplies of CR123s when I'm in port in some potentially dodgy part of the ME or Africa.
What I am after is a 2xAA or maybe a single AA light as we will have a good supply of AAs on the ship. Preferably LED (as supplies of LAs will be problematic). It will not need to be massively bright, but a hi and low setting would be useful so I can use it in the cabin at night without disturbing others too much.
I don't want a light with strobe, SOS, or any other silly flashing feature.
And one nice to have feature would be the ability to fit an NVG friendly green or yellow green filter, in case I find I need to use it on the flight deck at night.
I would also be open to a headlight, as this would be handy when working on the Helicopter in the hangar.
I have plenty of Surefire lights, a couple of G2s, 6P, 9P, M3, E2E, U2, A2 etc etc. All have various rechargeable set ups so I really, really don't want any 'Oh get a SF XXX running 18650s etc etc.
Thanks in advance,
Phil
