Hi. I am looking for a durable, truly waterproof flashlight that runs on AA's or AAA's. I would prefer a product that I can buy at Lowes, Home Depot, Wal-Mart, etc rather than online. Nonetheless, I'd appreciate all suggestions.

Thank you!

(I did a search, so if there are 50 threads like this already, I am sorry:mecry:)

Not sure what you could buy in regular stores but for the ultimate in waterproof and rugged AAA light you cant beat the arc AAA

How water proof are you looking for?

Just occasion dunks or something like an AA dive-light.

I'm not sure what you would be able to get at most normal stores. Probably dunk proof at the most.

Lots of good ones rated for diving from Pelican, princton tec, underwater kinetics, and as stated above, tek-tite. Practice your google-fu !! :D

I like Streamlight ProPoly series 4AA Luxon & 2AA LED.

UK or Underwater Kinetics makes some nice lights, rugged, some friends have beat the daylights out of some for several years - all are very waterproof and almost all are Dive Rated. Most Dive Shops out here seem to carry UK.

Are the River Rock handhelds waterproof? I like the Underwater Kenetics designs, this may be the light I buy:

I like the Tekite designs, but I want to see something a little more up to date (at least Luexon) with AAs. I'm not a huge fan of 5mm clusters, unless they cost less than $10.

Princeton Tec and Pelican don't have anything that appeals to me in the AA/LED department...thats under $100 and produces a reasonable amount of light.

If you come to visit, you can build your own for $10. ;) That offer goes for any CPF visitors. That's this model:

Or, if you can't visit, you can buy one for $10, + $3.00 postage. We just sold 7,000 kits to a summer camp supplier. They are incandescent type, but I wish I could watch them going together!

Hi e2x3e
Seeing is believing they say. At Wal-mart you can get these 2AA
Rayovac LED flashlights. There is a 3watt and a 1watt version.
$24 & $19 price. Solid aluminum, and waterproof as my home test
picture here shows. Will run for 3hrs on freshcharged NimH AA's.
It comes with 2 alkaline AA's (Rayovac brand of course)
Seems it could double duty as a window breaking kubotan but have not tied.
Also will clip to a baseball cap as a headlamp - cool!

I've got the ROV 3-watter. Good light, I didn't know it is that waterproof. Thanks for the info!

looks like a cork to me...:ironic:

If you want a truely waterproof light, skip everything and go to a dive light from the likes of Underwater Kinetics, and the submerisble Pelicans.

Now, stuff like the arc AAA is water proof (sorry Thermal Guy) , but apart from personal anecdonts and general repuatation, its not dive rated as far as i am aware. While it may be waterproof enough, its not dive rated, neither are surefires, or mags, or fenixes, which are very waterproof, but only truely tested up to IPX-8. For something truely water proof, dive rated lights are the safest. Both UK and Pelican have bright enough lights that run on AAs

Look for something that says "submersible" not "water resistant"

The Tek-Tite is dive rated I believe and now you can get them for 10 bucks if you mention CPF! Thanks Scott!

If you're close to Tektite I highly recommend the build-your-own option... have taken two of my kids to do just that, and both loved it! What a way to start future flashaholics down the path to lumens-a-plenty, heh heh. :naughty:

Wow thats awesome! I'm going to do that as soon as I get a car(I'm only in high school).

OK, OK here's how:

Just go to the link, click on 'add to cart', then go to 'checkout'. In the "promotion code' box, write "CPF13". The total will be manually adjusted here.

Enjoy!

What type of LEDs does the Tektite Trek 4 Advanced kit come with?

If you can wait a month or so...UK will have a new 4aa light that is waterproof and has a newer gen led (cree/seoul/new k2) I do not now much about it yet...just that it is coming.
