im looking for a flashlight for a laser host that i wont have to mod alot. my ? is that on flashlights with modes is the modes controlled by the pcb or is there something else in the switch? lets say i removed the whole pcb..wouldnt that do away with the different modes?

i dont know about other lights but im pretty sure that is the case with the novatac. the switch is as simple as it gets.

Most multi-mode lights have a circuit which detects power interrupts and switches modes accordingly. That is electronic switching. There are a few lights which switch modes by varying the current path, either through a different part of the PCB or through different resistors. That is usually a mechanical method.

If your goal is to make a laser which looks like a light, there are already lots of those out there. If it's about modifying a completely different light, or just for the giggles of making one, there is a entire laser forum here.
