I bought a number of Accupower 10 Ah D cells from Thompson. I tested each of them on my Triton at a 3A discharge rate. They all provided more than 9 Ah.
That is really, good considering the capacity ratings are usually done at about 0.1 C

I have found that regular Nickel Metal Hydride D cells not only loose their charge over time. They loose their capacity as well. Usually, a couple of refresh cycles bring them back. However, after a year our two, about 30% of my old NiMH batteries never seem to regain their capacity. They get chucked. (are they hazardous waste ?)

Sanyo Eneloop AA's seem to be the best. But, they are only available in the Axx form factor. I am hoping these Accupower D cells can stand up to the test of time against the grueling thirst of the P7 emitters in the Mag 3D. So far, they have lived up to their capacity claims.

In the future, we will see if Accupower can live up to their LSD claims.

I have been using these batteries in my boombox with great success. It lasts longer, and when not in use the LSD Accpower D's seem to hold thier charge quite well.

Alkalines tend to last for about 6 hours of playing- the LSD have easily surpassed that limit. Sorry I dont have the know how to make those pretty discharge graphs.

I have them as well, and in C size..

Seem to be Okay..

I will never buy non-LSD cells in any size..

I found this site that will tell you all their member places near you that handle recycling for free. Just enter your zip code to bring up a list. I walked into Radio Shack with 3 dead SLA's from my UPS that must have weighed 20 pounds. When asked if he took them he said no problem. They only take rechargeable batteries.

I purchased my P7's from Kai.
They now have D Bin emitters for $23.

I don't know what the improvements are with the D bin emitters, over the C bin emitters, but the price is right.

I would love to build a quad P7, but they generate too much heat for a mag body.

There was a thread on the Electrolumens quad P7 wherein, it was to hot to hold. (very bad for the emitters)

The Led Zep heat sink with a FM3V2 head is my ultimate dream.
