Has anyone tried the Acriche AC led from Seoul Semiconductor? Looks very interesting, as you do not have to have a transformer or converter to run the led from AC. Just wire it up and go. I looked for sources to purchase one to try out but I couldn't find anyone selling them. Just curious if anyone has tried them and how they work.

Thanks!

If you just want stars, you can get the 2W single die A2 version at http://www.superbrightleds.com/ and I've seen the 4W quad die A3 star on ebay if you just search for acriche. The quad die one is the version they use in the GE lights at walmart. Seoul's website lists some new A4 models that may be more interesting.

I think they work ok, nothing special. Wiring them is very easy though!

Yeah, that's why I'm looking at them. No need for a current regulator or power supply.

Here's the way I used my 2W model, I couldn't imagine an easier hook up:

It gets really hot, but I have run it for hours on end without any issues so far.

This was the thread on it.

I've considered getting the 4W model and just replacing this one, but my walmart bulb left me less than impressed. But, the walmart one is more of a spotlight, while this one obviously isn't.

I am very happy with the color from them.
