I got my AlephIII earlier this week but my Pilas weren't in yet. I now have an AlephIII loaded with a 168A Pila and I love this light. The throw on this little light is great. I haven't compared it to any other lights yet, but I'll look at it next to an IMS27 reflector and a 30mm optic.

This is by far my favorite light. Thanks

I don't think the IMS27'll do that well - that's the equivalent of a Aleph 1, IIRC, and they get seriously outthrown by the Aleph 3. Dunno about the 30mm optic, however - you'll get a good hotspot, but whether you'll get the same range's up to the light source more than anything, IIRC.

Welcome to the Aleph 3 club, however. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif There's a reason the Aleph 3 is my primary carry-light, right now.

How did you get a 168A into an E series body?

The IMS and optic won't even come close.

How'd you get the Pila 168A to fit in the light? I thought some of the 168S were already having problems fitting.

Hi Tony,

I guess you read it too?

I always get the Pila battery numbers mixed up. I have both sizes now. Anyway, I'm using the smaller of the two and they fit fine.

That would be the 168S, which stands for 'Surefire' - they're the skinnier cells meant for non-Pila lights, with correspondingly reduced capacity.

I have Aleph III DB 917 Lux III on a BE4 body (4 cell E-series compatible body). Real nice! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif I need a Defender black clickie tailcap to go with it.
