I just found out that alkaline batteries are actually !SAFE! for wet battery changes! (Even while fully immersed underwater!) Lithium batteries are not. It was pointed out to me that as long as the head was fully potted, water around the alkaline battery wasn't a problem since the electricity would flow through the line of least resistance, through the contacts, meaning NO SHORT CIRCUITS!
Living in hurricane alley, this was a !HALLELUJAH! moment. Malkoff dropins are potted. With the VME 2xAA battery compartment and the VME head with a Malkoff dropin, I have my soaking wet hurricane emergency light! Thanks JonSidneyB for the illuminating insight.
Also Carrot pointed out that Peak uses potted heads in their lights also. Thanks Carrot.
So I was wondering what other lights using alkaline batteries have potted heads?
JonSidneyB pointed out the Stenlight. I'd like to know if there are others. Headlamps as well as handheld flashlights or even any other types are welcome.
Thanks to all ahead of time who can post solid leads.
P.S. Most companies don't specify "potted"/waterproof in their specs.
