My shell came in as well, thank you. It weighs more than it looks like it should, which is great! even better, the mailperson also delivered the custom driver from Mtn Elec. I've got some mad scientist things to do in the next few days. I'll post what it turns out to be

I fully encourage mad scientist experiments with these shells. What's the point of all that copper otherwise?

Finally got my triple up and running. A XP-G2, driven by a Qlite putting out 4.44 amps. Single 18650.

It's in this home-made body with Oveready bezel and Ronac tail

Still haven't decided if I want to go with the frosted or clear optic.

Frosted is my preference. I find the clear Carclo triple optics result in beam artifacts too much. Frosted optics remove some of the harshness. Of course these artifacts are only apparent when white wall hunting or looking at stuff very close to you. For 99% of normal use its irrelevant :)

Price dropped to get these moving. $40 per shell, $30 per additional shell in the same order :)

Anyone care to share their ways of soldering the driver to the shell?
I had problems soldering them on, so i ended up press fitting them so they are a tight fit & apply minimum solder, which i am not sure if it is sticking or not.

I simply press fit. With the ground screw and connecting ground wire there is no real need to solder the driver in place. If used properly (sitting flush on the internal shelf) the pressure from the battery will prevent the driver from ever moving. If you are particularly worried, then get some 2 part epoxy (Arctic Alumina for example) and put a little around the edge of the driver (after installation) and wipe it clean with your finger.

Never had anything pop out on me...touch wood.
