I've stated my dislike for the hex bezel on current model Surefire flashlights. The only one that I own that features the hex bezel is the M2. I have relegated the M2 to briefcase duty as backup along with the ARC LS.
I frequently alternate the X5 and LS but not necessarily the Taclite and M2. I have spoken about replacing the M2 but, do not necessarily want to purchase another flashlight.
I have also stated that I have been using the 9N more frequently lately. I like having the dual function of high and low beam in one unit. My usage has changed to general illumination and navigation.
The A2, with its high initial cost, does provide the dual function of the 9N. I can mitigate the cost by going through the appropriate channels. But, as I said earlier, I don't want to acquire another flashlight. I've curtailed my inventory to just a handful with the intent of keeping only those I actually use. The ARC LS was my last purchase.
I don't want to abbreviate my battery of lights any more. It is as lean as I need it to be. However, two remain in the briefcase that get little usage: the M2 and ARC LS.
If only I can combine them so that they are one unit. That configuration would be an ideal backup to my 9N.
Surefire made a model called the 6BL. It was essentially a 6P with an old style shock isolated bezel and a sidesaddle switch located on an adapter that allowed attachment of an ASP baton.
Here's my idea:
Attach that sidesaddle switch to the M2 and have someone machine an adapter to hold 1 CR123 battery and adjoin the ARC LS head to the sidesaddle switch. Presto, now we have a hybrid tactical/LED light.
In keeping with the CPF tradition of naming modified and homemade lights, I'll call it the Koga-Light.
