Hey guys,

So I have this Ultrafire C3 with extension tube from DX for 2 months now, and last week it pretty much died on me. It only flickered when I tapped the head. It were mere blinks.

So I took it apart, after trying out everything (bridging the tailcap, checking for burnspots, etc).

I resoldered the connections, but no luck.

It only turns on when I direct drive it, by putting 3V on the + on the CREE P4 itself, and the negative on the body. putting it on the - on the P4 doesn't do anything.

Do i need a new driver? And how do I install it?

You guys want Pictures?

Thanks a lot in advance.

Edit: I really want to fix this light, I really love the huge throw it pumps out.

Try putting the battery to the + - on the led [ well it worked the other way ]

If you can pull the pill out , try that same 3v directly to the driver + inner ring , - outer ring .. If you make contact directly to the driver + - then you eliminate contact issues [ driver to pill ]

If it turns out to be the driver , then you will need a new one ..

If its a contact issue , then some solder refreshing

What he said... if it's not the driver, it's the tailcap...

oops edit: I saw you tried that...

So I got my replacement today...Their customer service is better than I'd expected...

I wanted to add a O-ring between the head and the glass to improve the waterresistancy. When I put it all back together, I noticed a large gap between the battery tube and the head.
I got thinking, and maybe the extra pressure from the battery somehow broke the driver? There is no damage on the driver.
What are your opinions on this?

Thanks in advance.

PS: Maybe I'm just wrong. Last time I was thinking, the Cuban Missile Crisis was the result. :D
