I thought I'd share this with everyone seeing as how questions about inductors seem to crop up now and then:

I've been fiddling around with the ZXSC400 - it's similar to the ZXSC300 used in the ZLT+ circuit, but adds a sense resistor to monitor the ouput. I figure if an inductor works for one of them, it should work for the other as well.

The JW Miller PM3316-100M (available from Digikey or Newark) works fine, at least as far as I can tell /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif The downside is that I'm getting quite poor efficency out of the circuit, though I believe this is because the inductance is too low - 10 uH.

For earlier testing with hand wound units, I've found that this particular cirucit needs a larger inductance than the original ZLT+. Best I've found so far is 10 turn of wire on the JW Miller FB73-287.

So its not a perfect answer for those looking for a store bought inductor for ZLT+ circuits, but I hope this helps those who are still looking /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Hello there,

Sounds like a good idea Lucien.

What are you driving, a 1 watt LS or a 5 watter?

Take care,
Al

Its a 1W driver, though I have tested it on a 5W /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Used a 6V input for the 5W, and I think some of the components got quite a bit warm - that setup would probably require a different inductor than the 1W
