Hey guys I lurked some of the forums for a while (thise one, LED flashlight and flashlight reviews) but I would still like your opinion since it looks like pretty much every flashlight is good for something. My biggest problem is that the most talked about lights are the new ones (to me at least) and the expensive ones, there's too much choice too. To help articulate what I'm looking for I'll use the template.

BTW the looks don't matter because they all look pretty sexy to me.

1) How would you prefer to purchase the light?

__x__I will be mail-ordering or buying online, so this doesn't matter.

2) Budget: An easy question, but you may change your mind after answering the rest! :-)

__x__Less than $100.

3) Format:

__x__I want a flashlight.

4) Flashlight-specific format/size:

___x_Every day carry medium (4-7 inches).

preferably

5) Emitter/Light source:

__x__LED (known for efficiency, longevity, and compactness)

6) Manufacturer:

I would like a stock model for now. I will buy better lights in time but if this one is mod able even better!

7) What battery type do you want to use?

I would prefer to buy a rechargable battery, the type doesnt really matter does it?

8) How much genuine out the front (OTF) light do you want/need? Sometimes you can have too much light (trying to read up close up with a 100 lumen light is impossible).

__x__I want to walk around an unlit rural area (50-150 lumens).

9) Throw vs. Flood: At what distance will you be most likely to use this light? Select all that apply.

__x__5-20 yards/meters (check out a noise in the backyard)

__x__30-50 yards/meters (I have a big backyard)

10) Runtime: Not over-inflated manufacturer runtime claims, but usable brightness measured from first activation to 50% with new batteries (Measured on maximum output).

__x__30-60 minutes (I have plenty of batteries just ready to be changed)

11) Durability/Usage: Generally the old phrase “you get what you pay for” is very accurate for flashlights.

I'll google reviews and check out whether I want it.

12) Switch Type and location (choose all that apply):

__x__I don't care.

13) User Interface (UI) and mode selection. Select all that apply.

Any of these would be nice but if it costs to have these then don't worry.

__x__I want multiple light levels. (Some lights have 5-16 light levels.)

__x__I want a programmable light. (preferably)

____I want a selector ring.

__x__I want a strobe mode. ( saw kickass, I want one XD)

____I want SOS mode.

____I want a beacon mode.

____I don’t care.

____I don’t know.

__x__Anodized Aluminum – either type II or III (Hard Anodized) (Aluminum,

__x__Red filter (for preserving night vision)

I looked at the c78 and it seems cool as all hell. The Ultrafire C3 SS looks nice too. Obviously they are ver cheap though, that wasn't the reason I thought they were cool but given my noobishness to lights anything you show me I will probably think is cool. Theres no need to get everything on the list just parts like, under $100, had good throw, focusable, etc..

Thanks guys.
