Is there any reason to modify a TK40? I mean...it's absolutely perfect as-is...at least I always thought so.
What am I thinking, this is CPF where *every* light can be improved!
Darn it...now you're going to get me going. I'm going to see all the beautifully modified TK40s out there on CPF and there goes my budget on my TK40 that I SWORE that I'd NEVER EVER modify because it was 100% perfect in stock condition.
A SST-50 or 90 would be nice, but you'd need a few more drivers and a reflector for a single die.
Putting in a SSC P7 would simply decrease the runtime by a third or so, not even doubling the lumen output.
I'd keep the light the same, it's amazingly small and has amazing output for the runtime.
I believe the SST-50's are more efficient @ the same drive current that most MC-E's are driven to. One advantage of the SST-50 is that it can be driven to 5amps and put out 1300-1400 lumens if you are using the highest Flux bin currently available.
