Hey all,

I will be flying into Midway, spending a few days in Lisle, IL on business and wondering if anyone knows of any stores in the area I should not miss - Flashlight (especially), firearms, tactical, or otherwise.

thanks in advance!

NickDrak pretty much hit the nail on the head.

Not sure where you are coming from, but there is a Cabelas here in Hoffman Estates. Not sure if you have them in your state?

Aside from the "cop shops" not much here.

Well, hmmmm.

Maybe I'll do better off searching for a good brewpub or deep dish pizza.

thanks guys,

You'll be driving a bit. The chi-pit and crook county are inordinately hostile to things that go bang, plus you get to pay the highest sales tax in the nation to fund the graft machine. They've driven out nearly all the 'places to shoot' and buy within a fair distance. Gun World in Bensenville is gone due to airport expansion and last I heard hasn't been able to find a new home yet.

Gat Guns, in Dundee, will be a fair drive north but its outside of crook county. Its a little further west and south than Cabelas. They do carry Surefire and other lights but I don't go there for that so I can't vouch for the selection. They have a range with pistols for rent, a nice selection of firearms and accessories including "tactical", and the store is actually quite interesting in its own right.

You might also consider Chuck's Gun Shop in Riverdale; its reported to be a pretty good shop, but I've never made it there myself. It may be closer to where you are, but keep an eye on the news just in case; its hizzoner's favorite yell and scream protest site.

duck911 - tried to send a private message, but you have it turned off...

hi -
Lisle is in the western burbs of chicago - about 20 miles west.... not much going on - which biz you in ?
one of the high techs in the area ?
where ya staying - some are walking distance, some not ?

downtown naperville is more dense for food, walking around, etc

Cabelas up north is a pretty cool "outdoorsman" place,
we also have a REI near OakBrook,
and a Outdoor World just south on Rt53 in Bolingbrook.

There is a Fry's Electronics store on Findley Rd in Downers Grove, IL. That is the next town east of Lisle. Fry's has many of the Inova lights and some lower line lights, too (e.g., Coast/LED Lenser, Maglite, ...). They sell all kinds of batteries, chargers, electronics components, Pelican boxes, tools, etc.

Have fun.

yah - forgot about Fry's -

just to round things out....
there is a Walmart (Coleman MAX) on Rt53 north,
and a Lowe's (Task Force 2C) on Naper/Weber south in Bolingbrook, along with a Home Depot (Husky 2D) which is also on Naper/Weber and also north on Rt56/Butterfield just north of Fry's - and a Target is just east of Lisle across the I-355 expressway.
