Looking to replace a load of 50w halogen gu10 bulbs. Looking at chinese cheapies. There's loads on DX, anyone tried any of them?

Thanks.

I picked up some cheap GU10s (ValuLux Gu10 , 3x3W emitters, 2800k, 45 Degree). After 2 months of light use, say 1 hour a week, 2 of the 6 failed. Failure mode was reduced or zero lumens after 15minutes, then 10minutes later, the light would pop on again. Installed in open fixture track lighting at 120V 60Hz. Disassembly indicated poor heat sink paste.

OTOH, I have ecosmart / lighting science 12v MR16s that have performed well for over a year, all in recessed cans. Search this forum for details.

Thanks for the replies. Seems all the china tat has a high failure rate (surprise surprise) but the philips bulbs are $30 each here...

Maybe im just a year or two early lol. A friend has some 3x1w and 4x1w gu10 led bulbs that were about $10 each (from her dad who owns an electronics repair shop so half price, normally $20) Both say warm white, supposedly 3000k. They look identicle to some of the chinese stuff.

The 4 led ones are very dim but have a perfect warm tint and the 3 led ones despite being much much brighter have a purple hue...
