I bought one of the early McCulloch x990 HID lights and purchased two extra batteries sometime after the name changed to Acro. I had been using the light sporadically over the years, the last time several months ago.
(One of the McCulloch batteries broke awhile back--something broke loose inside the battery.)
Recently, I pulled the x990 out and charged up the three remaining batteries. The "old" McCulloch battery worked fine, but both Acro batteries were "dead!" That is to say that when connected to the x990, the light would flash as it does when the battery is low. Tried charging the Acro batteries again, to no avail.
Is there anything I can do to resuscitate the Acro batteries? In a brief CPF search, I think I read that someone paid about $190 to rebuild the battery, but with new batteries costing about $120, it's cheaper to buy new...but such a waste of the old housing.
One other question. According to an email I received from Acro, they indicated that the life of the battery is about two-three years. Is that true? I realize that I exacerbated the problem by not charging/using the batteries on a regular basis, but...?
Thanks for any help/advice!
