Any one used WF-139's 12V Input?

I was considering grabbing a 12V cord for the WF-139 charger, in case I ever need to charge cells and theres no 115V mains power. (Blackout, camping, etc.)

Has anyone used the WF-139 on 12V (more like 13V), and does it provide results consistent with using the wall outlet? With the somewhat sketchy nature of WF-139s, I figured it'd be better to ask first. :)

I went to the local electronics store and bought the parts to make one. Its finished but I have not tried it out.

If yours explodes in your face and burns up your car will you PM me and give me a heads up. :)

I was looking at RadioShack part number 270-1558 or 270-1594, but I suppose I could make one too. The first one has a 8 foot cord or something, but the second has an on/off switch and comes with a few common adapta-plugs. I suppose making one wouldn't be too painful either...
 
Update!
I found an old RadioShack cigarette lighter cord that I love. It has selectable output, like those multi-tap wall transformers, only in 12V flavor! On the 12V setting, its direct drive, ie. if the car is charging to 14.00V, the output will be 14.00.
Anyway, I tried charging a pair of ICR16340 on the way to my friend's house, and it worked a-ok! Didn't do any voltage tests or anything, but nothing went :poof: It would be interesting to see how the car's fluctuating voltage (radiator fan coming on, A/C compressor kicking in, etc) affects the charge.
 
I do not have that charger however in general dumb chargers are OK with the voltage differences incured during an auto's operation but smart chargers are not. It is advised to start engine connect charger and to disconnect charger before stopping engine. This sequence prevents surges (spikes and drops) form confusing a smart charger's logic circuites.
