Any Peak Guru's?

I just scored a Peak Baltic Titanium AAA and while I really like the current Peak light's I know nothing about the older ones. This one looks to have the P4 LED. Anyone happen to have any idea of output or beam pattern? Also it looks like it is pretty easy to gain access to the LED. Would it be pretty easy for a modder to swap in a neutral or high CRI flavored LED, either XP-G or XM-L? Thanks for any insight on my new Ti gem!

I'm pretty sure that Peak pots all their electronics. I used to be a big fan of Peak lights, and I still think they make high quality lights, but their lack of customer service has left me in a position that I haven't purchased any in a while. If they ever make some with pocket bodies I may try the new Vulcan. I have no use for a keychain light that is too big for a keychain and I don't want the extra length in my pocket.

RMSK has the Logan that is 2.6 inches long. The Logan and the Volcan use the same optic. The Logan is the new QTC model.

The Logan pocket is shorter than the Volcan and better runtime. Also I can give you all the customer service that you need. I am very easy to communicate with. And reply to all your questions very fast and the online chat works great if I am not online you can click on the chat button and leave a message when I log back in I will receive it and respond.

JW, You'll have to see what power level it is, there will be a letter stamped on the positive contact on the head. Yes it's most likely a P4. look at Peaks page HERE. Almost impossible to mod without destroying it.

Have you tried a 10440 in it yet? :devil:

P4 Baltics are tricky to mod.. but not impossible. once you unscrew the two halves of the head, you'll see an aluminum ring surrounding the led.
carefully drill 2 tiny holes on opposite sides of the ring, stop when you are through the ring or you'll damage stuff underneath it.
screw in a pair of small screws(just enough to get some leverage) and pull up and out on the ring. desolder the two leads, move the wires away and
pry up on the led with a small flathead. it should pop out... scrape away excess thermal compound. set your new led in(aa and all), solder leads back on.
with an xpg or xml, i'd wager you would need to find a different reflector.

I don't necessarily think they lack in customer service. Slow and not very communicative yes but even though it takes them forever I haven't seen where anyone gets totally screwed. I will vouch for Bob's new on-line chat feature though. Pretty sweet! I just bought a SS Logan QTC Key. I don't intend to keychain carry it but I do plan to add a Moddoo clip and the key attachment will make a sweet spot to attach a lanyard I think.

It has an "S" stamped on there. The guy sent me a pic of the LED and it is most surly a P4. Haven't received it yet to play with it.

It would more than likely cost more to change the LED to
the Cree XPG than buying a new QTC light that has almost
infinite output levels, twice as bright at full power with an
optic matched to the LED. Use a Cree XPG for any drive
level under 1.5 Amps. Max drive with a 3.7 volt Lithium-Ion
battery is 0.9 to 1.1 Amps. There is no difference in Lumen
output between an XPG and an XML at those drive levels.
Only when the drive is over 1.3 Amps is when the XML is
superior.

I did just buy a SS Logan QTC but I'd love to buy either a Logan or Eiger QTC in Titanium with a neutral LED! Maybe someday you'll at least offer neutrals? I know you'll mod one in but 4 months turnaround with spotty communication doesn't do it for me. I'm not so much worried about output by modding in a updated LED as I am wanting a warmer tint! ;) I am looking forward to this new/older little Ti gem though regardless. The P4 is still a formidable emitter
