Hey all,
I finally am working on my own lights. I built one using some old loc-line, the led module from a UK2AAA, a switch and a battery holder from radio shack (it's a very simple reading light that is quite dim, as i suspect the LED is very under driven).
Anyhow, I was looking to take a step up and use a micro star loc-line from BP, an AC adapter, and a dimmer switch. Simple, I was going to hook the adapter (12V) through the dimmer switch so that I can adjust the brightness of the LED. Any warnings or suggestions? Heck, will this even work? Thanks.

Howdy,

Sounds like a good plan to me. I trust you understand that there probably isn't a 'dimmer switch', but there are some very simple, easy to build ones you easily put together. Something LM317 based comes to mind.

You need to decide what you want your minimum and maximum currents to be, then I'm sure a number of the usual suspects will happily fill in the blanks of circuit and values.

Um, well, actually, I didn't know that. Honestly, I know jack about electronics. Looks like I'll be doing some more research /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif Thank you very much for the reply.

Well, I guess that will make it at least a little harder....

Not to worry, when you figure out what you want, send me a PM, we'll see what we can cobble up.
